What are some good cookie recipes for a beginner cook?

I'm not very good at baking, probably because I haven't had any experience. Anyway, what are some good cookie recipes for someone like me?What are some good cookie recipes for a beginner cook?

I'd go to www.foodnetwork.com and search on sugar cookies, those are really simple and are easy to make. Then you might want to try chocolate chip cookies.
Sugar:





INGREDIENTS:


2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour


1 teaspoon baking soda


1/2 teaspoon baking powder


1 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups white sugar


1 egg


1 teaspoon vanilla extract





DIRECTIONS:


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.


2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.


3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.





Oatmeal:


INGREDIENTS:


1 cup raisins


1/2 cup hot water


2 cups all-purpose flour


1 teaspoon baking soda


1 teaspoon salt


2 cups quick cooking oats


1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg


1 cup packed brown sugar


2 eggs


3/4 cup vegetable oil


1 teaspoon vanilla extract





DIRECTIONS:


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Soak raisins in hot water and set aside.


2. In large bowl, sift flour with soda, salt and spices. Blend in rolled oats and sugar. In a separate bowl, beat eggs with fork and add oil, vanilla, and raisins and water mixture. Pour into dry ingredients, stirring until well mixed. Drop by teaspoonfuls about two inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.


3. Bake 10 to 13 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges are golden.





Chocolate chip





INGREDIENTS:


1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour


1/2 teaspoon baking soda


1/2 cup butter, softened


1/2 cup turbinado sugar


1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg, lightly beaten


1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract


1/4 teaspoon salt


1 cup chocolate chips





DIRECTIONS:


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a cookie sheet.


2. Mix the flour and baking soda in a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, turbinado sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy, then beat in the egg, vanilla, and salt. Stir the flour and baking soda into the butter mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the cookie sheet.


3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
I always follow the recipes on the bags of chocalte chips or peanut butter jars. those are ur best starters.
um go to google and type in nestle tollhouse cookie recipe or look on the back of the lid of a quaker oatmeal can,
I like this chocolate and pistachio cookie because its tasty and easy to make, u can replace pistachio with any other nut or just white chocolate if u like. I'll leave the link for u.

sugar cookies








1 c. butter, softened





1 c. sugar





2 1/4 c. flour





2 eggs





1 1/2 tsp. baking powder





1 tsp. vanilla





1/2 tsp. almond extract











Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat in the eggs, almond extract and vanilla until fluffy. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Stir into the bowl with the creamed butter and sugar.











Cover the cookie dough in plastic wrap or waxed paper and refrigerate for 6 hours. Roll out the dough with a flour-coated rolling pin to 1/4'; thickness on a floured surface. Cut out the cookies with cookie cutters. Decorate. Baked on un-greased cookie sheets for 10-12 minutes at 375掳 until lightly browned.
