I have some finches and some cockatiels.any thiing creative or something you ever wanted to try would be fine.Does anyone know any home made non-cook bird treats or cooked recipes?
Colette posted a lot of great websites to check out, but I thought I'd add a couple more...
I just recently read an article about quinoa in Birdtalk ~ I haven't tried it yet, but it's extremely nutritious. Usually, the quinoa you buy from the health-food store has already been cleaned, but I would rinse it really well just to be safe. Here's one recipe I found that I'll be trying soon:

Also, I know it seems cannibalistic, but your birds might enjoy trying a hard-boiled egg, cut into pieces...
And food toys are great since they serve two purposes. I've used a potato peeler to make long slices of carrot and strung them up in my African Grey's cage. Here's a website I'm going through for edible toy ideas: http://www.birdsnways.com/birds/iedible.鈥?/a>Does anyone know any home made non-cook bird treats or cooked recipes?
My cockatiel loves having my corn muffin as a treat
Birdie corn muffin
1/2 cup corn meal
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1.5 cup water
1/2 cup fine chopped carrots
1/2 cup fine chopped broccoli or celery
1/2 cup green peas
1/4 seeds or pellets
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
paper muffin cups
Preheat oven at 350 degrees.
Mix the the dry ingredients, then make a well.
Crush the eggs and add water to the the dry ingredients.
Add the chopped vegetables and seeds
Fill each muffin cup half way.
Bake for 40 minutes.
Let cool before serving and freeze for storage.
My cockatiel does not eat vegetables, this is the only way I can get him to eat them.

seeds soaked in bleach and then mixed with honey and let dry and serve, it actually works very well, its better if its less concentrated bleach.
